The picturesque Salt Point farmhouse Casey Dzierlenga shares with husband Sam Moyer is more than a cozy abode for the two woodworkers and their young daughter. It’s also the perfect showcase for the couple’s other offspring: beautiful wood furniture handmade in a nearby studio, brought home and comfortably situated in low-key, lovingly curated environs. Dzierlenga’s immersive passion for her craft is evident in the contiguous flow between her workshop and living space, from the Jupiter Windsor chair nestled in a sunlit corner to the fact that the farmhouse is heated with off-cuts from her furniture shop. On a recent visit with the designer, we discussed country life, upstate inspiration and the growing interest from urban dwellers in furniture that walks the line between rustic and refined.
